Fine Art+ Fashion…. A benefit for NBAF

Description

A night of Fashion to benefit the National Black Arts Festival. The event was hosted By Sheryl Lee Ralph, one of the original DreamGirls and on a more personal level my hero on ” Its A Living” along with Crystal Bernard. I remember thinking how cool they were to work in that bar… silly me. Oh and I learned something!Sheryl is the youngest female to graduate from Rutgers University at the tender age of 19!!!  WOW!  I digress, you know me. Sheryl was in for a major surprise. NBAF acknowledges her tenacious activism in the Aids community  via  Divas Simpy Singing. Mrs. Lee Ralph was awarded the NBAF Model Citizen Award which came in the form of an elegant Tiffany Crystal… hmm trophy?award?  vase? You decide the proper name. It was a wonderful night with all clothing on the runway sponsored by Saks Fifth Avenue.  The models were diverse in both ethnicity and size. I was a little sad I was prepared for some Tyraesque stomping, but there was none of that. BOO! I was most impressed with the color palette and *gasp* the music. There were a few blending speed bumps but the selection was delish! You know OR will learn I love a good soundtrack. I  found myself singing along to Santogold and Daftpunk  *score* So here’s a few goodies for you until NBAF gets their share of the goods. Take care all and I’ll have some lovely cultural photos from Ronald K Brown’s Evidence Dance Company in about 24 hrs.
